What do you like to do when you are not playing music?
I like reading books, hiking and watching YouTube.
At what age did you start playing your instrument?
I started playing the double bass when I was 13 years old.
What was the most exciting concert you ever performed?
One of the most exciting concerts was at the Philharmonie in Jena with Anton Bruckner’s 9th Symphony. I was 16 years old, and that was my first big concert with a youth orchestra. I will never forget the emotions and great atmosphere in this project.
What was the most awkward moment in your career?
The most awkward moment was definitely at the double bass competition in Slovakia. In my application, I wrote a country which doesn’t exist.
What is your favourite piece of classical music?
Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Jean Sibelius’ Violin Concerto.
How did the last two Corona years influence your musical development?
These two years were very difficult, although I think that I developed my musical skills by having more time for practising.
Which famous person would you like to have dinner with (from the past or the present)?
I would love to have dinner with maestro Mariss Jansons.
