Member of other orchestras or institutions: Verbier Festival Orchestra (VFO)

What do you like to do when you are not playing music?

Hike, spend time with friends or read a book.

At what age did you start playing your instrument?

I began violin studies at six and switched to the viola at 13!

What was the most exciting concert you ever performed?

One at last year’s Zermatt Festival, when Noah Bendix-Balgley performed Mozart’s fifth Violin Concerto with our orchestra. I’ve never felt so engaged on stage!

What was the most awkward moment in your career?

A pageturn disaster that happened a few years ago. Every time I have to turn the page during a concert now, I sweat a little…

What is your favourite piece of classical music?

Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony

How did the last two Corona years influence your musical development?

They have afforded a lot of time to practice and grow my individual instrumental technique, while introducing some unfortunate restrictions on orchestral and chamber music playing. Luckily, Zermatt has enabled me to connect with wonderful peers despite the circumstances.

Which famous person would you like to have dinner with (from the past or the present)?

Piet Mondrian
