Regina Salzmann, violin
Mathias Trottmann, guitar
The Salzmann/Trottmann Duo, featuring Upper Valais violinist Regina Salzmann and Neuchâtel guitarist Mathias Trottmann, invites listeners on a journey into the world of great music in a compact format. Their repertoire includes exquisite gems from the Classical and Romantic eras, performed on stage or in the intimate setting of a living room, as well as works specially composed for this ensemble. Highly popular in the 19th century and particularly cherished by Paganini, this musical formation has lost none of its charm in the 21st century.
A passionate chamber musician, Regina Salzmann regularly performs on both violin and viola with various ensembles, including the Oberwalliser Streichquartett, Lunaare Quintett, Ensemble Tango Salón, and 676 Nuevotango-Ensemble. She also frequently plays in duo with her husband, Mathias, whom she met during their studies in Neuchâtel.
As an internationally acclaimed soloist, Mathias Trottmann has performed works such as J. Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez and concertos by A. Vivaldi and J. S. Weiss. He has also delved deeply into the music of A. J. Manjón, exploring the repertoire for the 11-string guitar, on which he has performed Bach’s Chaconne. In addition, he has a deep passion for traditional tango music, which he plays with Trio El Zaguán, and he arranges beloved works for his chamber music partners.
