Since its creation in 2005, the Zermatt Festival Orchestra has established itself as an outstanding ensemble. Each year, it brings together 35 young musicians from around the world, much like those once led by Pablo Casals at the foot of the Matterhorn in the 1950s and 1960s. Together with the Scharoun Ensemble Berlin, they perform alongside renowned soloists—sometimes under the direction of a conductor, sometimes in self-directed formations—interpreting both the great pillars of the orchestral repertoire as well as lesser-known surprises.
