The numerous accolades awarded to Andriy Dragan include the Prix Credit Suisse Young Artist Award 2009 and the1st Prize and Prix Collard of the Kiefer-Hablitzel Foundation 2013.

Born into a family of Ukrainian musicians, Andriy Dragan started playing the piano at the age of four. He was encouraged by his parents and instructed from a tender age by Professor Lidia Krych in his home town of Lviv. His career as a soloist began at the age of twelve with an invitation to perform in his home country and in Switzerland with the International New Symphony Orchestra Lemberg, which was founded by conductor Gunhard Mattes. With Mattes’ support, Andriy Dragan studied under Professor Adrian Oetiker at the City of Basel Music Academy.

Andriy Dragan regularly entered competitions during his 10 years of study in Basel, which culminated in his graduation as a concert pianist. Among his many successes, the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award in 2009 is particularly noteworthy.

Andriy Dragan has been a Swiss citizen since 2020 and now lives in Basel. Even as a student at the City of Basel Music Academy, Andriy was booked for numerous international engagements as a soloist and chamber musician. They included performances at the Lucerne Festival 2009, the Verbier Festival 2013 or as Artist in Residence at the Festival La Roque d’Antheron 2013.

His received important artistic inspiration during master classes with Zoltán Kocsis, Piotr Anderszewski, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Ferenc Rados, Klaus Hellwig and Alfred Brendel. Other influential teachers included Arie Vardi, Hung Kuant Chen, Milana Chernyavska and Pavel Gililov, from whom he learned during his studies at the International Academy of Music in Lichtenstein in 2014 and 2015.

His love of classical music prompted Andriy Dragan to continue his education as a conductor at the Lucerne School of Music under the celebrated musical director Howard Arman.

Andriy Dragan has been a guest at various festivals such as the Verbier Festival, La Roque d’Antheron, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad or the Annecy Classic Festival. Among others, he has performed in concert halls like the Stadtcasino Basel, KKL Luzern, Tonhalle Zürich or the Lviv National Philharmonic.

Since 2018, Andriy Dragan has given regular recitals with Vasyl Zatsikha and Alessio Pianelli as a member of the Barvinsky Trio. The trio received the Performance Award at the Migros Chamber Music Competition in 2019.

Andriy Dragan is a highly committed and virtuoso artist who is known to wrap his talent in modesty – and is therefore more comfortable letting his style of playing speak for itself.
